Exercise Tips For The Busy Worker

21st May 2012

The Sigmar Recruitment Singapore Recruitment Team

Often as our lives become more hectic, exercise is one of the first things we let slide.  Yet exercise is one of the best ways to reduce stress and to keep yourself energised, focused and healthy.

Below are some simple suggestions to try;

  • If you live close to your workplace, consider walking or biking to work.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator
  • At least once in a while, rather than emailing a co-worker, walk to their office and deliver your message in person.
  • During your lunch, take a stroll around your local area.
  • Keep small hand weights by your desk and lift them whilst talking on the phone.
  • Simple stretches like clasping your hands together and reaching behind your shoulders or bending over to touch your toes, gets your blood circulating and will provide that late afternoon burst of energy.
  • Pedometers (step-counters) are cheap and easy to use.  Best of all, they help you keep track of how active you are.  Build up to 10,000 steps a day or more.
  • Organise a lunchtime walking group.  You’ll be surprised how the camaraderie  of the group will keep you motivated.
